Darren Stevens: Essex banking on youth and grace in new era for Women’s cricket

We’re nearly a month into a new era of women’s domestic cricket, which has seen a new tiered county system replacing the regional structure that had been in place for five years.
It’s been a new start for me as well, having switched from assistant coach at South East Stars (now Surrey) to the same role at Essex, one of the eight counties granted Tier One status.
There was a fair bit of hype leading into the start of the season, but things are settling down now.
