Lauren Winfield-Hill: Women coaching men – the next big barrier

Lauren Winfield-Hill argues cricket must do more to normalise women coaching in men’s teams and believes The Hundred can help break down long-standing barriers.

There’s been a lot of focus during The Hundred this season over both the lack of English coaches and particularly the lack of female coaches in the women’s competition.

But I think something we don’t speak about enough is how few women coach in men’s franchise and international cricket.
The only example I can think of for a woman taking on a role in a men’s team is Sarah Taylor, when she took on the keeping coach role with England men earlier this year.
Massive kudos to her because it takes a lot of confidence for a woman to enter a male space like that.
