Mark Butcher: Where do England turn in their search for a spinner?

It’s been a tough start to the county season for spinners. Calvin Harrison, the Notts leg-spinner on loan at Northants, took 11 in the match against Lancashire and Zafar Gohar, the Pakistani left-armer, has had some success for Middlesex.
Jack Leach has also chipped in with 10 wickets for Somerset. But, in general, it’s been slim pickings.
Shoaib Bashir, currently England’s first-choice spinner, had a chastening three-match loan spell at Glamorgan where he managed only two wickets at an eye-watering average of 152. Perhaps more concerningly, he leaked runs at more than four an over.
