The first four rounds of the 2026 County Championship saw half of its fixtures end in draws, including every match in the last Division One round of April.
Only one team in Division One, Nottinghamshire, failed to pass 400 in their first innings of the that round, with three out of eight going past 500.
To put that into perspective, first innings scores of more than 400 were reached eight times in the 17 Championship Division One Championship rounds played in April last year – one more than in a single round in 2026....
