Katya Witney looks back at Trent Boult’s exchange with Jonny Bairstow in this year’s The Hundred and considers what moments of on-field needle can tell us about the competition’s search for genuine rivalry.

 

The Hundred has reached crunch-time, with the last-minute scramble for knockout places leading to an exciting few days of action at the back-end of the group stage.
To add to the excitement, some genuine hostility emerged on-field, as MI London seemingly took it upon themselves to single-handedly inject some needle.
