The forthcoming 50-over series between England and South Africa should generate more interest than usual for a bilateral series tacked on to the end of a season that has just witnessed one of the best Test series of the millennium.

The visitors will be cock-a-hoop after beating Australia and seeking further conquests away from home, while the hosts are set to blood new players as they seek fresh combinations ahead of global tournaments.
Both, though, will need to grapple with a new playing regulation surrounding the white Kookaburra ball, as two becomes one during play.
