Trent Bridge have performed a u-turn on their ticketing policy for the final day of play in the third Test between England and India.
The Nottinghamshire venue triggered a social media uproar by confirming tickets for adults on Wednesday would cost £10, while juniors would have to pay £5. With many fans criticising the situation that sees England resume on 311-9 and 210 runs short of victory, matters were made worse by Trent Bridge also stating that refunds would be void once a ball is bowled.
As one fan on twitter summed up, “Is someone having a laugh?! How can you charge fans £10 for D5 entry when @BCCI only need one wicket to win 3rd test? Missed opportunity to attract new audience & surely explains the sorry state of test cricket vs growth of T20 cricket!”
Early on Wednesday morning, the venue announced they had backtracked on the policy and would refund the 2,000 tickets already sold, while new spectators would be able to gain entry for free.
“We’ve slept on the day five pricing policy and, frankly, we got it wrong,” they posted on Twitter.
“All current ticket holders will be refunded and admission will be free on the gate with donations collected for charity. Gates open at 9am and we’d love to welcome you for the conclusion of the game.”
