Dan Lawrence: The ground that changed my life

The England and Surrey batter on growing up with Chingford CC on his doorstep.

My dad is still the roundsman at Chingford Cricket Club and we lived in a little flat at the ground.
I was so fortunate to grow up there, to have the indoor nets and all the facilities literally on my doorstep.
I didn’t go to private school or anything like that, and we weren’t as wealthy as a lot of the other families, but the fact that I grew up at the club gave me a healthy advantage.
If I didn’t have the club, then I probably wouldn’t have played cricket at all.
