The Ashes 2027 fixtures confirmed for England men and women

England will begin their bid to regain the men’s Ashes against Australia at Trent Bridge on June 18, with the ECB confirming the fixtures for the 2027 series.

The five-Test contest will then move to Lord’s, Edgbaston and the Utilita Bowl – which will stage a men’s Ashes Test for the first time – before concluding at the Kia Oval.

However, there will be no test in the north of England after both Headingley nor Old Trafford were selected for the men’s series.

The decision was criticised by the now prime minister Andy Burnham – then the mayor of Greater Manchester – when it was announced in 2023.

Avenge

England, currently without a Test captain or head coach following the departures of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, will be looking to avenge the 4-1 series defeat in Australia last winter and regain the urn for the first time since 2015.

England Women, meanwhile, will begin their Ashes campaign with a four-day Test match at Headingley on June 24 before three T20s starting on 3 July – at Trent Bridge, The Oval and Old Trafford – and three one-day internationals beginning on 13 July, at Southampton, Lord’s and Edgbaston.

The women’s side, who also be looking to avenge a embarrassing defeat in Australia following a 16-0 whitewash in 2025, will look to win their first Ashes Test since 2014.

The ECB confirmed the fixtures as part of its 2027 home international schedule, with the men’s and women’s Ashes running concurrently through June and July like in 2023, while the England Men’s Mixed Disability team will also host Australia.

Australia are also due to play a four-day warm-up fixture against a full-strength England Lions side at Emirates Old Trafford from June 7-10, although the match could be reviewed should the tourists qualify for the ICC World Test Championship Final.

Before the Ashes, England Men will host Pakistan in a five-match ODI series before welcoming Bangladesh for a one-off Test at Lord’s – the first home Test between the two nations since 2010.

Following the Ashes, England’s preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will conclude with three T20 internationals and five ODIs against New Zealand, while England Women round off their summer with T20 and ODI series against Bangladesh.

ECB chief executive Richard Gould said: “The Ashes is the pinnacle of our sport and it is significant that next summer we will have three England teams playing against Australia at venues across the country.

“The last time Australia were here made for captivating cricket, in a way that only the Ashes can provide, as both of our Men’s and Women’s teams fought back to level the series in dramatic circumstances.

“It’s also important that this summer shines a light on every part of our cricketing landscape and the inclusion of the England Men’s Mixed Disability team during an Ashes summer is a landmark moment.”

ECB managing director of competitions and major events Neil Snowball added: “The 2023 final at The Oval was a huge hit with broadcasters and fans, and I’ve no doubt that next year’s event will be extra special again.

“This promises to be another fantastic opportunity for cricket fans in this country and from around the world to see the best two Test teams in the world from the past two years taking each other on in a showpiece event.”

The ECB also confirmed the Kia Oval will stage the 2027 ICC World Test Championship Final from June 9-13.

It will be the second time the venue has hosted the showpiece after Australia defeated India there in 2023, with the ICC having already awarded England and Wales the hosting rights for the 2027, 2029 and 2031 finals.

The 2027 final will also mark the 150th anniversary of Test cricket.
