The Hundred has been and gone, and my prevailing emotion is relief that it’s over.
Not because I agree with the tournament’s detractors that it’s a scandalous cuckoo in the summer’s nest. Nor because I think it’s context-free ‘cricketainment’ that denies true supporters the opportunity to watch Test matches and their county play meaningful cricket at the height of the season.
The relief is because the fixture list between early June and mid August is such a horrendous hotchpotch of formats that my head is a jumble of scarcely recallable research, and half-remembered matches.
