AFGHANISTAN BOOKED their place at the 2027 ODI World Cup in dramatic fashion, edging Ireland in a thrilling contest in Belfast thanks to a match-winning contribution from superstar Rashid Khan.
Chasing 207, Afghanistan appeared to be slipping towards defeat at 176 for 7. But Rashid held his nerve, scoring an invaluable 37 to guide his side over the line. His batting capped an outstanding all-round performance after he had earlier taken 3 for 44 with his leg-spin.
