The battle lines are being drawn, the media releases readied, the statements disseminated. County cricket’s civil war is here and it’s… oddly underwhelming.
Up for grabs is the domestic schedule from 2026 onwards. We will almost certainly lose a couple of T20 games and maybe a couple of first-class ones too.
But there will still be a County Championship, a T20 Blast, a One-Day Cup. The world as we know it will go on. It just might be a little smaller.

Various counties have made their positions clear. Yorkshire, Surrey, Somerset and Middlesex all want to stay at 14 County Championship game...
