Gloucestershire are delighted to announce that Ollie Price has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Club.

The Oxford-born right-handed batter made his Gloucestershire debut at Cheltenham College in 2021 as Gloucestershire took on Middlesex.

Since then, the 25-year-old has become a mainstay across all three formats, contributing with bat and ball while establishing himself as one of Gloucestershire’s finest fielders.

Ollie Price took time after training to speak with Gloucestershire’s media team about his future with the Club:

Successful

“I’m really excited about the next two years. I think any time you get the chance to sign a new deal at your home club, it’s a really special one. I’m looking forward to hopefully two successful years here.”

“I think my game’s changed a lot in five years. I think you come into the team and professional cricket trying to prove to yourself that you can belong at that level.

“Since then, you try and grow into someone that the team can hopefully depend on to perform with both bat and ball, and that ambition doesn’t change. You still want to keep pushing your own contributions towards the team. I think I’ve definitely grown a lot in confidence since that day in 2021.”

“There’s no hiding from the fact that this year has been really challenging. Fundamentally, the biggest ambition is to improve, particularly in the red-ball game.

“We really want to set some markers down as the team that we know we can be and that we want to be. That’s probably something we’re really passionate about over the next couple of years, and I know a lot of us are.

“Obviously, I’d love to be a player that contributes a lot, in all formats, towards the team’s success. I don’t have anything too specific, but that’s probably my main ambition.”

Delighted

Gloucestershire’s Director of Cricket, Jon Lewis, said:

“We’re delighted to have secured Ollie’s services for the next two seasons. He is a Gloucestershire player through and through, someone who cares deeply about the Club and takes immense pride in representing Gloucestershire.”

“Ollie has come through our pathway and developed into a key figure within the squad. He sets high standards every day, both through his performances and the example he sets around the group. He has become a real leader within the dressing room and is someone his teammates look up to.”

“He’s an incredibly talented cricketer who continues to improve across all aspects of his game, and we firmly believe his best years are still ahead of him. Just as importantly, his ambition matches our ambition as a Club, and we’re excited to see what he can achieve in Gloucestershire colours over the next two seasons.”

“We’re are all so proud to see a someone who has progressed through our Academy continue his journey with Gloucestershire, and we look forward to watching his performances go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”

Highlights

One of the highlights of Ollie’s career came in 2024 on T20 Finals Day. Demonstrating his value as an all-rounder, he took three wickets across the day, including two in the semi-final and the crucial wicket of Sean Dickson in the final. He then sealed Gloucestershire’s first-ever T20 trophy in style, hitting the winning runs with a six to defeat Somerset.

The knockout stages of the competition highlighted not only Ollie’s love for Gloucestershire through his passionate celebrations but also his exceptional fielding ability. He took fantastic catches in front of the Hollies Stand in the quarter-final and played a key role with the ball, taking important wickets in all three knockout matches.

In 2025, Ollie Price recorded the highest score of his professional career. Batting at Old Trafford, the middle-order batter produced a magnificent unbeaten 253 against Lancashire, the sixth first-class century of his career. In doing so, he became the 23rd Gloucestershire player to score a double century for the Club, joining a distinguished group of players whose history stretches back to 1871.

This year, the right-handed batter scored his highest-ever List A score, making 122 against Warwickshire. It was the fourth List A century of his career, following his first at Cheltenham College against Derbyshire Falcons in 2023.

Even in the early stages of his career, Ollie Price ranks among Gloucestershire’s greatest-ever fielders. Already inside the top 100 outfield catchers for the Club, Ollie has taken 70 catches across all formats. None was more important than his last-ball match-winning catch in Bristol to defeat Worcestershire Rapids in the Vitality Blast, a catch he took despite playing with an injured wrist.

While Ollie Price is one of Gloucestershire’s finest batters, he is also one of the Club’s most effective wicket-taking threats. His ability to get through overs has helped build pressure across all three formats, while also contributing 93 wickets for the Shire. The off-break bowler ranks 15th on Gloucestershire’s all-time list of T20 wicket-takers. His best T20 figures of 3-21 came in a two-run victory over Middlesex in 2023.

Off the field, Ollie graduated from Durham University with a degree in French and Spanish, achieving the milestone during the early stages of his Gloucestershire career. Ollie Price’s next fixture will be at a ground that has brought him so much success, as Gloucestershire take on Worcestershire at the Towergate Cheltenham Cricket Festival.
