Former England opener Michael Carberry has left Leicestershire by mutual consent.
The 38-year-old left hander joined the county on loan from Hampshire in August2017 and was made captain two months later but he was stripped of the duty in May this year and made his last appearance for the club shortly after.
The decision to replace him as captain, with Paul Horton, came after an internal review at the county with head coach Paul Nixon having made the final decision.
Carberry, who undertook treatment for cancer in 2016 which saw his career come to a halt, had been considering legal action against the county for what he claimed was a decision made with no reasoning given.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Leicestershire said: “Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Michael Carberry have agreed to part company by mutual agreement.
“Leicestershire County Cricket Club would like to wish Michael all the very best for the future.
“The club will not be making any further comment.”
