Afghanistan pioneer Zadran dead at 38

AFTER A long battle with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a disease which causes the immune system to slowly fail, Shapoor Zadran (below) has passed away in a Delhi hospital one day short of his 39th birthday. Shapoor was one of the most recognisable figures in Afghan cricket, and is best remembered for his performance at the 2015 ODI World Cup, where he was Afghanistan’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 10 wickets, leading his nation to their first ODI World Cup win versus Scotland.
