Can there have been a more deserving case for the Lord’s Honours Board than Mohammad Abbas, Pakistan’s wily seam bowler?
Three times now Abbas has taken four wickets in a Test innings at the famous venue with his nibble and strife, and three times he has been denied by a single wicket.
Sometimes, it’s just not cricket.
He’s on three in England’s second innings having snaffled Harry Brook, Emilio Gay and Jamie Smith, but he’ll need his team mates not to excel in the remainder of England’s 2nd innings if he is to finally see his name in gold paint.
