In 1989, there was a memorable TV advert, made by the Milk Marketing Board and featuring a Scouse lad drinking copious amounts of milk from the fridge. He quotes the claim of the great Liverpool striker, Ian Rush, that he would only have been good enough to play for Accrington Stanley if he hadn’t drunk his milk.
