Sir Garfield Sobers arrived in England in the spring of 1966 as the finest cricketer in the world. He departed that autumn having laid claims to being the greatest of all time.

Garfield Sobers made five tours to England, enjoyed four of them, and dominated one.
Under Frank Worrell in 1963, Sobers had been among a cast list that would deliver a classic series against a backdrop of “good humour and incessant banter” (Wisden) between sets of supporters curious to discover the common ground they shared.
