Scotland Men’s Squad Announced for ICC CWCL2 and T20 Tour of Namibia

The Scotland Men’s squad has been confirmed for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures and T20 internationals in Namibia.

Grange’s Owen Gould is the sole new callup to the ODI squad. The 21-year-old captained Scotland at the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in 2024 and has since featured for Scotland A and will provide competition in the wicketkeeping department as well as batting depth.

Essex seamer Mackenzie Jones returns for the first time since making a successful international debut last summer, while Carlton allrounder Chris McBride is also recalled.

Meanwhile, thirteen members of the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup touring party are retained, including Zainullah Ihsan, who will join up with the squad for the T20 international fixtures.

Challenge

Several players were not considered for selection due to county or club commitments, or outstanding personal reasons.

The Scots will face hosts Namibia and Oman in four ODIs in Windhoek, as they continue their bid to retain their CWCL2 crown.

The series will be followed by three T20i fixtures against Namibia, with the tour concluding on 18 April.

Owen Dawkins, Scotland Men’s Head Coach, said: “We’re very much looking forward to getting back into CWCL2 action and challenging ourselves in 50-over cricket against Namibia and Oman.

“We’re also delighted Namibia have been able to accommodate us for a T20 series after the 50-over games have concluded.

“Our aim on this tour is to continue to play the positive brand of cricket that saw us give a good account of ourselves at the T20 World Cup and move ourselves forwards in the CWCL2 standings.

“The great challenge for us is to build upon the good things we did in India and progress those areas that we need to work on.”

Consistent form

He added: “I was particularly happy with how dynamic and athletic we were in the field during the T20 World Cup.

“This is an important area of how we want to play the game and I look forward to us taking this forward into the ODIs.

“There’s obviously a few changes in personnel from the World Cup, and it’s great to welcome Mackenzie Jones and Chris McBride back into the squad, as well as seeing Owen Gould receive his opportunity.

“Owen has come through our pathway system, progressed through the U19s and A-team cricket, and has shown good consistent form in league cricket in Scotland as well, and he deserves his chance now to stake a claim at full international level.

“We are excited about visiting such a beautiful country and in particular playing at the new stadium in Windhoek.

“It looks like a wonderful new facility, and I’ve heard lots of great things about it from those who played there during the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in January.”
