One of the most arresting and widely-praised football videos of 2023 did not involve Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or any game play at all.
Instead, the focus was on two ordinary Norwich City fans sitting alongside each other in the stands. They were only ‘matchday friends’ but we saw them meet cordially time after time, making pleasant chit-chat and enjoying the games together. One was over-enthusiastic and smiley, the other rather glum-faced and maudlin.
