JONATHAN TROTT has been appointed England Lions head coach for the winter, returning to the England set-up after a successful four-year spell in charge of Afghanistan.
The 45-year-old replaces Andrew Flintoff, who stepped down from the Lions role in August to become head coach of Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. Trott had already taken temporary charge of the Lions for their recent two-match T20 series against Sri Lanka, which England won 2-0.
