Southern Brave name Sophie Molineux and Chris Jordan as captains

Southern Brave has confirmed Sophie Molineux and Chris Jordan as its captains for The Hundred, with two of world cricket’s most respected leaders set to guide the women’s and men’s teams into the new season.

Australia captain Molineux will now lead the Southern Brave women’s side, bringing a wealth of international experience and leadership credentials to the role.

One of the game’s most accomplished all-rounders, Molineux has played a key role in Australia’s sustained success on the global stage and has led her country across formats, including the recent T20 World Cup win against England. 

Jordan takes charge of the Southern Brave men’s team as a proven match winner in white-ball cricket and one of the domestic game’s most decorated limited-overs players.

Leadership pedigree

Jordan has been a cornerstone of Southern Brave since the competition’s inception and is widely regarded as one of the game’s most influential leaders, both on and off the field.

The appointments come as Southern Brave prepares for a new chapter under its refreshed coaching structure, ahead of another highly anticipated campaign at the Utilita Bowl. 

Molineux’s leadership pedigree is among the strongest in world cricket. As Australia’s captain across all three formats, she has helped drive the standards and consistency that have made the national side the dominant force in the international game.

Speaking about her appointment, Molineux said: “It’s a huge honour to captain Southern Brave.

“This competition continues to showcase some of the best players in the world and I’m incredibly excited about the group we’ve assembled.

“There’s a brilliant blend of experience and emerging talent in the squad, and I can’t wait to get started with the team and our supporters this summer.”

Jordan’s connection with Southern Brave is deeply embedded in the team’s identity.

Since the inaugural season of The Hundred, he has been central to the men’s side’s success through his world-class death bowling, energy in the field and leadership qualities.

Speaking about becoming men’s captain, Jordan said: “Southern Brave has been my home in The Hundred from day one, so to be asked to captain the team is something I’m hugely proud of.

“We have a talented squad, a fantastic coaching group and some of the best supporters in the competition.

“I’m looking forward to leading the team and giving everything to help bring success to Southern Brave this season.”

Southern Brave begin their 2026 campaign later this month against Welsh Fire on July 22, with both teams looking to build on the franchise’s strong record in The Hundred.
