After another half-century from James Rew (59), Tom Abell’s measured unbeaten 101 from 229 balls helped guide the Taunton side to their second-innings target of 287.
The former Somerset skipper shared a crucial stand of 65 for the seventh wicket with current captain Lewis Gregory (25) to blunt the impressive Hampshire attack.
