Root praised for sporting gesture

JOE ROOT was thanked for his sportsmanship by Steven Croft as Lancashire booked their place in the T20 Blast quarter-finals in a controversial Roses clash at Old Trafford.
Croft helped steer the hosts to a nerve-jangling four-wicket victory but was embroiled in the game’s key talking point at the start of the 18th over.
The Lancashire all-rounder fell to the Manchester turf while attempting a quick single and Yorkshire skipper Root, sensing a potentially nasty injury, decided not to run him out.
