Mark Butcher: James Rew fits the bill for higher honours

Following another injury to the desperately unlucky Jordan Cox, Somerset’s James Rew is the latest batting talent to be plucked by England from county cricket.
I wrote in my first column of the season how much I like Rew. He has all the shots you’re looking for and the technique to match.

There’s a thoughtfulness to his game which allows him to adapt to different match situations, as we saw in his impeccably timed, match-winning century for Somerset earlier this week against Essex.
