All the signs are that this year will be the toughest, tightest edition of The Hundred yet. The availability of frontline players means there are star-studded line-ups everywhere, and there should be plenty of runs scored in particular.
The biggest surprise has been teams setting targets and winning. It felt like everyone was going to elect to chase at the toss as standard at a lot of grounds – Headingley in particular is very much a chasing ground because it’s so fast scoring – but this year, teams have gone with runs on the board and try and get hit for ones in the second innings.
