SURREY’S frail tail was blown away twice as Middlesex enjoyed first-class success over their neighbours for the first time in seven years.
The hugely depleted home side, which included two debutants, had collapsed in the first innings as they lost six wickets for 28 to concede a deficit of 65.
But just when they looked capable of holding out for a draw, another slide of 5-4 left their London rivals victorious by 190 runs with 8.1 overs to spare, much to the delight of new Middlesex skipper Steve Eskinazi.
