Maturing Ben Mayes looking to salvage Hampshire’s season

It’s a measure of Ben Mayes’ progress and age, that last weekend’s One Day Cup hundred against Sussex wasn’t the most important event in his life over the past seven days.
That came on Thursday and A Level results’ day.
Still just 18, Mayes has already enjoyed quite a year.
He hit a first century for the England Lions against South Africa A at Arundel back in May – scoring 105 against the tourists and sharing a stand of 189 with Asa Tribe.
