Lancashire Thunder made history as they claimed the first silverware of women’s cricket’s new era, overcoming fellow Tier One side Surrey with a 32-run victory in the inaugural T20 Women’s County Cup Final at Taunton.
Earlier in the day, Surrey beat Warwickshire in the first semi-final by three wickets, before Lancashire booked a spot to join them in the final after a rain-affected seven-wicket win over The Blaze.
In the final, Lancashire were in pole position at the halfway stage, having made 172-6 from their 20 overs.
