James Anderson’s Lancashire are out in front in Division Two of the County Championship with the England great himself sitting atop the country’s wicket-taking charts.

The veteran seamer took seven wickets (3-12 and 4-51) in the Red Rose’s four-wicket win over struggling Gloucestershire at Bristol before Lancashire chased down a target of 202 to win in their second innings; Luke Wells finishing 78 not out.
Gloucestershire lost the toss and were inserted and their 2026 batting woes quickly continued.
