Jain earns surprise India Test call-up at 33

SARANSH JAIN has earned a surprise first India Test call-up at the age of 33, joining the squad for next month’s two-match tour of Sri Lanka. The off-spinning all-rounder has taken 188 wickets and scored 2,223 runs in 54 first-class matches during a career spent outside the IPL spotlight. Jain said his selection showed the IPL “isn’t the only yardstick” for reaching the national side, rewarding more than a decade of consistent domestic performances.
