Gul calls it a day and eyes the boardroom

PAKISTAN paceman Umar Gul announced his retirement from all forms of cricket this week – in order to push through an application to sit on his country’s Cricket Board. The 36-year-old bowler represented Pakistan in 47 Tests and 130 One-day Internationals (ODIs), and was an important member of the 2009 World T20 winning team.
But now he has stepped down to continue a promising career in coaching, and in the boardroom. Gul has applied to sit on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cricket committee but question marks were soon raised due to the fact he was still an active cricketer.
