Steven Finn never had the slick, repeatable action to be England’s Curtly Ambrose but he should have been our Jason Gillespie. That he ended up with under half of the Australian’s 259 Test wickets, from just over half the games, speaks of an unfulfilled talent – an English speciality when it comes to tall fast bowlers.
