Colwall celebrates a century of women’s cricket

COLWALL CRICKET Club in Herefordshire is celebrating its unique place in the history of women’s cricket, marking 100 years since a group of women gathered in the village and helped lay the foundations for organised women’s cricket in England.
In August 1926, a group of women’s hockey players travelled to Colwall for a cricket holiday. Staying at the Park Hotel, they played for three days before discussing how cricket could become a serious pursuit for women.
