Warwickshire bring back Will Young and Manav Suthar for title run-in

Warwickshire have strengthened their bid for a first County Championship title since 2021 by re-signing overseas duo Will Young and Manav Suthar for the closing stages of the season.

New Zealand batter Young returns to Edgbaston for the final six Division One fixtures after impressing during a three-match spell at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old has scored more than 3,000 international runs across all formats for New Zealand since making his debut in 2020 and boasts over 8,700 first-class runs, including 16 centuries.

Young averaged 53 in his three County Championship appearances for the Bears in 2025, with a highest score of 72 against Surrey.

India international Suthar will rejoin Warwickshire for the final four Championship matches after his involvement in India’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka.

The left-arm spinning all-rounder claimed 11 wickets in just two appearances earlier this season, including his maiden five-wicket haul for the club.

The 23-year-old also made his Test debut for India this year, earning player-of-the-match honours after taking 6-33 in the first innings of a comprehensive victory over Afghanistan.

Warwickshire sit five points off the top of Division One heading into the final stretch of the campaign.

Impact

Performance director James Thomas believes both players can make a significant impact as the Bears chase the title.

“We’re very pleased to welcome both Will and Manav back to the Bears after both players made a real impact when they were last with the club,” he said.

“We’ve played some good red-ball cricket already this season, and both players will now bring additional quality at a crucial time of the campaign where we are in the mix for the title.

“Will adds experience to our batting line-up, especially with Beau Webster’s time at the club over for the season, while Manav showed earlier this year that he has the ability to change a game with the ball as well as adding crucial runs.”
