"The IPL of the northern hemisphere.” That was ECB chair Richard Thomspon’s stated ambition for The Hundred, revealed while speaking to Test Match Special during a rain delay in the Oval Test.
It’s a bold goal, not least because the northern hemisphere already has a competition with a decent contender to the crown: The Indian Premier League itself, with the Indira Point a pesky 876 kilometres from the equator.
