IT’S TIGHT at the top of the Birmingham & District League with Smethwick and Halesowen tied on 224 points.
Last weekend, Halesowen beat Moseley by five wickets. Matt Pardoe took 5-72 to see Moseley restricted to 220-9. Luke Tulacz then made 69 not out to see Halesowen home in the 54th over.
Smethwick beat Berkswell by four wickets to stay level with Moseley. Berkswell made 227, Amir Khan hitting 85 and Tazeem Chaudry Ali taking 4-47. Veteran batter Bilal Shafayat then took command of the run chase, making 103 not out to secure victory.
