STEPHEN ESKINAZI’S unbeaten 94 proved in vain as his Middlesex side went down by four runs to Sussex Sharks at Lord’s on Thursday evening to set an unwanted record of eight successive defeats at the start of this Vitality Blast campaign.
Eskinazi batted throughout the chase but, with six needed off the final ball, he swung and missed to leave Middlesex agonisingly short of their target of 182. It was the club’s 12th successive defeat in this format going back to last season.
