In comes Stokes, out goes Woakes

THE return of Ben Stokes to an England Test squad for the first time since the winter was welcome news, even if the injury that has kept Chris Woakes out of the opening two matches of the series against India was not.
Stokes was rushed back from the fractured finger he sustained during the IPL in April to captain England’s hastily-assorted reserve one-day team to a 3-0 win against Pakistan earlier this month after a Covid outbreak wiped out the original squad.
