Botham’s a great but is he really the greatest?

I REALISE people like myself have got to forget the Botham of latter days when he tried to bowl medium-paced bouncers, and remember the giant of the 1981 Ashes series.
Certainly, for his actions that year alone, Botham deserves to be recalled as an England great. But is he really ‘the greatest all-rounder the English game has ever seen’ as Peter Hayter stated in The Cricket Paper last week?
I would want to throw other names into the mix including Wilfred Rhodes, George Hurst and even Tony Greig who had a greater differential between his Test batting and bowling average than Both...
