One of the things I’ve always loved about cricket is the social side. The cricket I know comprises a day in the field, broken by a communal tea of scones and sandwiches, and followed by a trip to the local pub to discuss the game over a pint. It was always thus, and this convivial afternoon routine, and the fact that it encroaches into evening shadows and traditional pub opening hours, makes it unique among sports.
