JOE ROOT may be the England batter that Australia fear above all others, but the former England captain won’t be short of support this winter.
In one small corner of the country, at least.
Root was in his teens when he headed to Australia to join the Darren Lehmann Academy. Part of his education involved him playing for Prospect in Adelaide’s grade competition, a club which included Nathan Lyon among its members – a spinner-cum-groundsman at the time.
