My dad is still the roundsman at Chingford Cricket Club and we lived in a little flat at the ground.
I was so fortunate to grow up there, to have the indoor nets and all the facilities literally on my doorstep.
I didn’t go to private school or anything like that, and we weren’t as wealthy as a lot of the other families, but the fact that I grew up at the club gave me a healthy advantage.
If I didn’t have the club, then I probably wouldn’t have played cricket at all.
