Legendary opener Tammy Beaumont will continue to play on following her international retirement after agreeing a new two-year contract with The Blaze.

Beaumont, 35, called time on a glittering international career, during which she hit almost 7,500 international runs, with 14 centuries, following England Women’s historic first Test at Lord’s in July.

She will now take her overall playing career, which began with her debut for Kent in May 2007, into a third decade after agreeing a new deal at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2028 season.

A World Cup winner in 2017, Beaumont has played in the East Midlands since joining Lightning in 2020 at the outset of the regional model, and has stayed with the side, renamed The Blaze in 2023, ever since.

Excited

She has scored over 2,600 all-format runs in 78 appearances for the two sides combined, and in 2026 was a vital part of The Blaze’s unprecedented treble, contributing over 900 runs in 35 games.

In between her international commitments, Dover-born Beaumont previously played for her native Kent for 12 years, while she also represented Surrey Stars and Southern Vipers in the Kia Super League.

Her experience of the franchise world also extends across the globe, with three sides in The Hundred joining a further trio of teams in Australia’s Big Bash League on her CV.

Tammy Beaumont said:“I’m so excited to be here for another couple of years as we hopefully try to defend some of our trophies we won this year.

“It’s been an amazing four years here, with so many special memories at Trent Bridge, and particularly this year, winning the treble.”

“Trent Bridge is a really special place for me, and I have so many memories with my teammates, our staff, and the fans, over many years.

“I really can’t wait to keep playing at Trent Bridge and stay part of the family for a while longer yet.”

Delighted

Craig Cumming, Head Coach of The Blaze, said:“We’re absolutely delighted that Tammy has agreed to extend her contract for another two years.

“It’s great news for us as a team because we can continue to call upon one of the highest-quality players of this generation, who continues to be an incredibly important part of our squad.

“Alongside that, though, Tammy is such a fantastic person to have in the dressing room, in the way that she goes about the game and how she interacts with our younger players to encourage their growth too.

“She’s shown the world over many years exactly what she can do, and now she’s stepped away from internationals, we’re very excited to have her as a full-time member of our group.”
