SOUTH AFRICAN-turned-Italian international JJ Smuts had what is best described as a ‘day out’ in Division One of the Essex League, launching 278 not out from 145 balls as Upminster piled on 465-8 against Chingford.
Smuts, 37, hit 40 fours and eight sixes in his onslaught, before continuing his fine day at the office with 3-27 from 10 overs of left-arm spin, along with taking a catch, as Chingford were bowled out for 206.
