Jamie Smith may have been short of runs in recent weeks, but Jack Russell believes England could soon see the benefit of him spending far more time behind the stumps.
Smith struggled in this winter’s Ashes.
Thrown into the white heat of battle against the Australians, his lack of experience as a keeper first and batter second was ruthlessly exposed by the hosts.
Smith still averages over 40 for England, but saw that figure plunge Down Under, after he scored just 211 runs at 23.
