Joe Root has hailed young all-rounder and Trent Rockets teammate Rehan Ahmed as a special talent who can go on to be an integral part of the England set up.
Ahmed, who celebrated his 21st birthday this week, made his Test debut in 2022 as an 18-year-old against Pakistan in Karachi, becoming the youngest player to play Test cricket for England in the process.
Ahmed has had an impactful start to the Hundred, scoring a rapid 31 with the bat and taking 2-23 with the ball in the Rockets’ win over Northern Superchargers last Sunday.
