THE END of the school cricket season has finally arrived, and the last two weeks of term has been occupied with school fixtures against Southern Hemisphere opponents and post-season festivals against opponents from far-flung corners of the land.
Many independent schools have reported that, as a consequence of VAT being imposed on school fees, fixture lists are likely to be trimmed in 2026, with long away trips to opponents likely to be a thing of the past and local fixtures the norm.
