ROYAL CHALLENGERS Bengaluru (previously Royal Challenger Bangalore) won their first title in the IPL’s 18-year history.
They defeated Punjab Kings by six runs, despite the best efforts of Shashank Singh who blasted six sixes in a 30-ball 61 not out, including 22 from the final four balls of the innings, after Josh Hazlewood defended the 29 runs required from the final over.
Batting first, RCB made 190-9, Virat Kohli top scoring with a measured 43 from 35 balls, an innings in which he hit just three boundaries.
