SURREY claim their young all-rounder Ryan Patel was subjected to racial abuse during the County Championship match against Yorkshire at Scarborough. The 20-year-old says the incident occured on day one of the match, on Monday, prompting the Division One leaders to report the claim to the England and Wales Cricket Board.
“We’re fully aware of this unsavoury incident and have every confidence that the ECB and Yorkshire will deal with it in the appropriate manner”, said Alec Stewart, the Surrey director of cricket.
